Wood Grain Initials Decorative Pillow

The older I get the more I get into sparkle, glimmer and shine.  I never was a bling girl before.  In fact, truth be told, I was a little bit of a tomboy growing up.  But there is something so feminine about shine and shimmer.  I am noticing the older I get the bigger the earrings, the chunkier the necklaces are and the more I love dolling myself up.  Or maybe it could be hoping the bling will distract from the signs of aging {giggle}.

For the past three years I have gotten to play with the Tulip Holiday Sparkle and Shine Shimmer transfer sheets as part of a campaign from I Love To Create.  I have made a double wine tote and an adorable Knock-Off Ornament pillow that I just dusted off this holiday season.  They are super easy to use and can be ironed to any fabric surface.

This year I made a shimmery carved initial wood grain pillow.  The fabric is a Joel Dewberry Woodgrain Vintage Yellow fabric I got from Online Fabric Store.  For the back of the pillow I just used some drop cloth fabric. Tip:  A great way to save money on pillows is to use a less expensive fabric on the back and splurge on the fabric on the front. I designed the heart and the initials in my Silhouette studio program with the AR Cena Font.  I used the red holographic sheet (face up) and adhered it to a media sheet and sent her through my Silhouette Cameo machine on the “chipboard” settings.

Next I just positioned the heart in place making sure to get the insides of the “B” in place.  I put a press cloth over the top and then ironed it to the woodgrain fabric for 45 seconds.

Then I made an envelope style pillow with the drop cloth fabric in the back sewing around all 4 sides.

I turned it right side out and put a 12” x 16” pillow form inside.

Easy, peasy and a great personalized gift for the holiday season.
