Okay so I told you I would finish off the story by telling you where I think I will be in 1, 3 or 5 years.   HAHA!   That is a joke.   I have no idea. To be honest I am just riding the wave.   I have no idea where this will take me. I am dreams and goal of course, but mostly I am just enjoying this ride. However, this is what I always hope is true of me/my blog no matter where this takes me:

 1.   That my blog serves as a place to inspire people.

2.   That I produce great content and never sacrifice that for money, fame, or a bigger blog.

3.   That I mentor other bloggers. I have a huge passion to walk along side of other bloggers and help show them the ropes. I don’t have all the answers (darn it!) but I have learned a thing or two along the way.   What good is my story if it doesn’t help others, right?

4.   That is stay true to who I am.   That I don’t get jaded or burnt out.   I hope to stay enthusiastic, excited and passionate about everything I do – that I always tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth (hopefully in the nicest way possible). But at the same time – that I never find my value or worth as a person in my blog.

Flowers from Below

5.   That I never let blogging get in the way of real relationships with friends, family and God.   I want those around me to see me as more than Infarrantly Creative.   I want to make my mark on this world for more than just being a creative person.

I really do have a dream job…to get paid to do what I love to do…is unbelievable!   I consider myself extremely blessed.   Thank you to each and everyone of you who come to visit me on a daily basis.   I am…

Beautiful! Thank you for posting this series! I've read every word!

  2. A Pretty Life in the Suburbs says

I loved your whole story. I'm a new blogger, and what you said about staying true to yourself and not getting sucked into blog envy, has stuck with me. I'm blogging because I love to. That's it.
    Thanks again for the inspiration!

  3. Love this series! Love your blog!

You are a gem, Beckie, and I have hung onto every word you've written in this series. I've said it before, but it bears repeating: Thank you so very much for sharing all this!

  7. Christine:) says

Beckie, I loved this series. It's been really fun reading about your journey, and what you wrote about mixing blogging and computer time with family time really hit home with me! I struggle with that off and on, and I tend to just shut the blog down for a few weeks whenever that happens. Unfortunately, that's not good for readership, and I get behind on stuff I want to make, but sometimes I feel like I have to only focus on my family for a bit. Kudos to you for being able to find a healthy balance- I love it. 🙂

  8. Jen-CraftOManiac says

This series has totally sucked me into your blog! I've officially moved up from Follower to Stalker!!

It's been so fascinating hearing about your journey. I'm sure the beginning parts have got lots in common with most people who begin a blog…but it was really great to see how and why you took yours further. Go you! Well done!

  13. When does the sequel get released? I loved this series. Thank you for sharing. You always have GREAT advice/wisdom to share and I'm very appreciative that you do. If you feel like you need a "baby blog" to take under your wing, I know one that would love to be cuddled. 🙂

  20. Heidi Ferguson says

Beckie–I have lurked on your blog for a long time. One of the first things I read was your whole life story–and spent the next hour reading the entire thing! I totally bawled during the last couple of posts. Your story/journey is incredible. You are also a great and captivating writer…I have also totally loved this Blog Story series. I am still one of those 'young' bloggers and your feelings of frustration are something that are all too resilient with me. So thanks for sharing and be honest. That's truly a characteristic that I admire so much!

  21. Thanks so much for your blogging story. Being a new blogger, it is very inspirational! I appreciate your honesty and love your blog!

I just have a few questions for you. Since you aren't sure where you are going to be 1, 3 or 5 years from now, is there any crafty goals that you are looking to accomplish in the near future? Any medium that you haven't tried that you want to?

  22. Amanda @ Serenity Now says

Beckie, I think you are doing a GREAT job staying true to your goals. 🙂 I am personally very, very grateful for every time you've stopped your busy schedule to answer one of my questions, and you are so kind to feature smaller blogs and projects. Keep up the great work!!

  23. I think that's a perfect way to end the story… for now. 🙂
I really appreciate you posting your story. It really inspired me. I set and posted blogging goals shortly after reading the last installment.
Oh and thanks for emailing me after my last comment. I felt like I had a brush with a celebrity!!

  24. Emily {WhipperBerry} says

I enjoyed reading your blogging journey, and can relate so much. Everyday we (at WhipperBerry) scratch our heads and wonder where we're going, and how we're even going to get there. We just keep praying that the next step presents itself, or we might get stuck floundering.
Your advice was invaluable to us, and we also value you, and your presence in our blog world.

  25. Thank you for the fantastic series. I am just in the process of starting out with my own blog so this has been incredibly inspirational.

  26. Katie_Bolinger says

Thanks for sharing the blog story. I admit I'd never heard of IC until you gave away a Silhouette. I wanted one so badly that I jumped through every hoop every blogger who was offering one presented. I followed blogs whose content was all wrong for me just to win. A little voice said, "quit chasing it" and after I bought a Silhouette I unfollowed many blogs. But I have stuck with IC and a few others because the ideas you present are a good fit for my interests and you're life story and blog story and moving and well addictive.

I have been blogging about my paper crafts for about 4 years and for the most part it was basically me muttering in the corner of the creative blog world. I had no followers and very few readers. I lost my job 6 months ago and have been a better (read more consistent) blogger ever since. I have a small following now and am trying to grow the blog while I search for a job, raise a kid on my own, and go to school.

My readership grows when I post Silhouette tutorials. Things I've figured out on my own that I can't wait to tell someone about. I'd really appreciate it if you would take a look and tell me what you think. Any feedback would be appreciated. This is the first one I did:

Thanks again for all you do.

  27. Madigan at madiganmade says

Thanks so much for sharing your story, Beckie. Darn, I thought you had all the answers, too! Thank you for staying true to yourself and wanting to help other bloggers. The CSI project, Crafterminds… they've been a great inspiration for me to create and blog. Keep up the great work, whereever your blog story takes you!

  28. Karen At Home says

Hi Beckie!! I am a new follower of your blog and jusr read your "My Blog Story" posts!! I am feeling so inspired right now. What an amazing journey you have had! Thanks for being so honest, real, and a wonderful mentor to other bloggers. Can't wait to read more.

  29. Just read through your whole story! So inspiring and really helps me to remember why I blog. It is very easy for us to forget that sometimes! : )

  30. Virginia Plunkett @ LiveLoveDiy says

Thank you so very much for sharing your experience of becoming a successful blogger. I just joined the ‘blogosphere’ a couple of weeks ago, and right from the start you stood out as someone I should benchmark. Not only do you provide amazingly unique content, but your voice throughout all of your posts is genuine, humble, and just plain fun. Thank you for this series of posts, as being a new blogger can be overwhelming and isolating in the beginning. However, thanks to this series, I now see the light! I realize how important networking is! I’ve been reading other blogs with a feverish pace, but haven’t really been SHARING my enthusiasm with the authors! I realize this is a first step in reaching out to other creative gals and forming a tribe! Sot hank you again for your wise and insightful ‘blog story’! It’s been eye opening and has helped me immensely today when I was otherwise feeling a bit frustrated! Have a wonderful Sunday!

  31. You know what I love? I love the honesty of your story. Thank you so much for that. It was really encouraging to read how you went through transitions in growing in your blogging business. My blog is not my business…but it’s important to my business. I have a house blog, too, which is basically my To-Do list that I’ve made public.

Anyway, I just wanted to say great job!

  32. Wonderful series! I’ve just been thinking in the last few days that I’ve got to start developing my community more. Your series has also shown me how important it is to establish my tribe now too!

Thanks so much for sharing your story!

  33. Check off point 3 from your post above: you have gone above and beyond mentoring other bloggers. I am about 6 months into my blogging journey and learning so much from others, including you! I appreciate your honesty and wish you nothing but the best!
    Holly from A Baker’s House

  34. I just got lost in this series for the past 30 minutes! Love every little bit about it. Thanks for sharing so much about yourself and your journey. Great series!

    • Erin, I know Denise is feeling so Blessed by all of you showing your love, support and kindness. There is more to the story and can’t wait to share it with you all!

  35. Great series! I feel quite inspired, thank you 🙂

  36. I don’t even know how I got here, but I’m glad I did. I read through this whole series, and I’m sitting here thinking, “I’m not alone!” Haha. I can totally relate to almost everything that you went through. I just hit 1000 followers. I feel like that took so much work and there are so many days that I feel like quitting. I too, have had trouble finding balance with my kids and blogging. I think the right solution is to set aside time just for that. I also love how you talked about finding your “tribe.” I still have yet to find that. Hopefully I will some day. Thanks for taking the time to write up your blog story. It has truly inspired me today.

    • Hi Jessica, Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. I love hearing that I have inspired someone, so it truly makes my day. Best of luck with your blogging and finding your “tribe.” Hugs!
