Hey there, it’s Monica (and Jess) from The Real Housewives of Bucks County. We’re so glad you guys liked our $20 Huge Artwork last month, so this month we’re bringing you another quick and easy, crazy-affordable project.

I am so not a girly-girl, so sometimes I’m a little lost with my younger daughter who is all things frills and princesses. We had a slight hair clip crisis going on in our house… they were everywhere! I needed a cute, cheap solution that wasn’t over the top girly.
Modern Hair Clip Holder
Supplies:
A canvas
Painter’s Tape
Spray Paint
Ribbon
Hot Glue Gun
A Million hair clips (optional)
I had an 11×14 canvas and some painters tape sitting around (yes, both just happened to be in my kitchen… just a day in the life of a DIYer). I recommend Frog Tape for this project. It’s just the right amount of sticky.
Arrange your tape in any pattern you want. I wanted a modern, linear look. I didn’t measure at all, but you definitely could. Here’s what I ended up with…
Make sure your tape wraps around the edges.
Head to your favorite spray painting spot and give it two light coats.
Here’s the cool, (not uber-girly) purple color I ended up with.
I had some dollar bin ribbon leftover and attached it using a combination of hot glue and tape. Don’t put glue all along the back of the ribbon because that’s where the clips will go, rather just put a couple small dots of glue on each side.
Tape worked for the back, but I’d definitely recommend glue.
I added ribbon to about half of the white stripes.
Allow it to dry and then begin adding your clips. Yup, it’s really that simple!
I love how it almost looks like art!
I put it right above the dress up rack and, so far, the hair clip crisis has been averted!
This is a REALLY simple project that a rookie DIYer can completely handle and that an experienced DIYer can whip together in under 30 minutes.
Easy-Peasy-Lemon-Squeezy.
