So my family isn’t huge Sloppy Joe fans, which is a bummer because it is a super quick and easy meal to make. Sometimes quick and easy is all I have time for. So I came upon this recipe from a special interest Betty Crocker publication from 2004. I tweaked it to our liking and every family member ate it up. Plus the best part is it can be made in a crockpot. Fall and winter just seems to be the time when my crockpot is on overload.
Recipe:
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup of chopped onion
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon of basil
jarred pizza sauce
1/2 cup of chopped pepperoni (more or less depending on taste)
rolls – I make homemade ones
1. Put uncooked ground beef and onion in the crockpot on high for 2 hours. I used my Pampered Chef chopper tool to ground up the beef while it is cooking.
2. After ground beef is cooked through, add a jar of pizza sauce, some pepperonis cut in 4ths (I cut about 25 pepperonis) 1/4 teaspoon of oregano, and a 1/2 teaspoon of basil.
3. Cook on low for 4-6 hours and then serve on rolls. Your picky eaters will thank you!
This recipe all freezes well! Crockpot and a freezer meal in one. I know! It’s amazing.
